Professor Gajdziok: New opportunities for collaboration are opening up for us

Faculty of Pharmacy staff have been working in the new MUNI BioPharma Hub facilities since the beginning of September. Students will begin the semester on 14 September with an induction week, during which they will familiarise themselves with how the entire infrastructure works.

Dean's board attended the Annual Conference of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy in Estonia

From 4 to 6 June 2026, the Dean's board the Faculty of Pharmacy Masaryk University attended the Annual Conference of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP), held at the University of Tartu in Estonia. The theme of this year’s conference was “Agile Pharmacy Curricula by Design: Ensuring a Future-Proof Pharmacy Profession,” focusing on the development of modern pharmacy study programmes that meet the current and future needs of the healthcare sector.

Professor Pierre Dubois at MUNI: International Perspective on Drug Regulation and Pharmaceutical Innovation

Masaryk University hosted Professor Pierre Dubois, a prominent French economist from the Toulouse School of Economics, who presented an international perspective on drug regulation and incentives for pharmaceutical innovation in his lecture. The event took place as part of the Social Sciences & Humanities Seminar Series at the Mendel Museum in Brno.

Gold medal of MU to honour Professor Suchý's lifelong contribution to pharmacy

Masaryk University celebrated its annual Dies academicus, a traditional academic ceremony which honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of science, education, culture, and civil society. As part of the programme, the Rector presented Awards and MU medals, with one of the gold medals going to Professor Václav Suchý, a longtime member of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

A surprising revelation: Gregor Mendel may have grown cannabis

Gregor Johann Mendel, the founder of modern genetics and famous abbot from Brno, is best known for his experiments with peas. However, new research reveals a little-known fact: Mendel ordered cannabis seeds and was able to grow them in the monastery’s greenhouse. Jakub Treml, the Vice Dean for External Relations, Strategy, and Development, has published a very interesting article on this topic, which you can now read as well.

Ahmet Davut Aksu invited to University of Costa Rica to share his expertise in Langendorff system

We are proud to share that our PhD student, Mgr. Ahmet Davut Aksu, MSc​, was invited by the University of Costa Rica to deliver a specialized training on the use of isolated heart (Langendorff) system and share his research on novel antiarrhythmic compounds.

Dr Trojan Showcases Medicinal Cannabis Research at Pittcon 2026

Between 7-11 March, San Antonio in Texas hosted a prestigious international conference and exposition on laboratory science. One of the presenters was our very own, Dr Václav Trojan from the faculty's Department of Natural Drugs. He showcased his work on Medicinal Cannabis Plants, In Vitro Cultivation and Standardized Production.

The Isolated Heart System in Practice: A Leading Course Explored the Development of New Antiarrhythmic Drugs

The Faculty of Pharmacy Masaryk University successfully hosted a specialized workshop titled “The Use of Isolated Heart Systems for Cardiovascular Research and Testing of New Antiarrhythmic Drugs,” which attracted those interested in modern experimental approaches in pharmaceutical and biomedical research. The course, offered as part of continuing education, provided a unique opportunity to gain insight into the world of ex vivo models and to gain hands-on experience working with an isolated heart system.

Delegation from Masaryk University met in Brussels to discuss future projects in EU research and innovation

Representatives of Masaryk University visited Brussels from 9 to 11 February to to discuss the European Union’s new multiannual financial framework for the period after 2027, cohesion policy, and the proposed European Competitiveness Fund. The delegation also included David Vetchý, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Soutěž Magistraliter přípravy 2026

From a pharmacy all the way to Mont Blanc

Petr Pargač hesitated for a long time between studying pharmacy and dentistry. In the end, he chose pharmacy, graduating from Masaryk University in 2022, and then set out abroad to gain experience. Today, he runs a pharmacy in a small Norwegian town 350km above the Arctic Circle.
