Diploma Thesis

Approaching the end of the 3rd year of studies, students should start thinking about a topic for their Diploma Thesis and looking for a supervisor, and in the autumn semester of the 4th year they register their Diploma Thesis topic in IS, and enrol in course: 'Diploma Thesis I'.

There is two ways to get assinged a thesis topic:

a) you can either choose from the topics offered in the IS (published at the beginning of the autumn semester): section 'Topic Lists - Diploma Thesis topic assignment';
b) or contact a supervisor directly, depending on a topic/field you have in mind or department where you'd like to work on your research, and come up with a topic together.

To learn more about the research fields and current projects at each department, watch the following video where Professor Šmejkal gives you an overview.

For students who transfered their studies form a different university, and are 'formally' not in their 4th year yet, please note: you can only choose your thesis topic and enrol in Diploma Thesis I after you obtain the minimum of 150 credits, not before.

The Diploma Thesis courses are to be enrolled in as follows:

  • 7th semester: FACD1_FaF Diploma Thesis I
  • 8th semester: FACD2_FaF Diploma Thesis II
  • 10th semester: FACD3_FaF Diploma Thesis III

Each course has 6 seminar groups representing 6 departments, so students enrol in the respective seminar group for their (supervisor's) department.

For writing Diploma Thesis, please use MUNI template (šablona).
