Naeem Malek, our second-year Pharmacy student, got recognized and awarded as one of the best delegates and also delegate with best energy within committee at the Model United Nations conference held by Masaryk University. Model UN is a global educational model of the United Nations used for simulations in which students learn about diplomacy and international relations, it is very popular with hundreds of similar academic simulations held each year all over the world. At a MUN conference, each student works as the representative of a country and must solve a problem with other delegates from around the world.
MUNI Model UN 2024 was held at the Faculty of Social Studies over the weekend of 12 - 14 April. It brought together over 150 delegates from 6 faculties for three days of impactful discussions across five organs of the UN – ECOSOC, UNSC, UN WOMEN, ILC, and UNHRC, dealing with politics, legal, economic, and historical topics.
The conference was opened with inspiring speeches from Masaryk University's Vice-rector for academic and cultural affairs Professor Jiří Hanuš and Dr. Rastislav Vrbenský from the Faculty of Social Studies. On its final day, the Model UN was honored to host H.E. Pasi Tuominen, the Ambassador of Finland to the Czech Republic.
And what did Naeem think of the conference?
"I highly recommend all the university students to take part in Model UN, as the conference really helps to develop skills in various areas like research, public speaking, critical thinking, team work and leadership, and many more. It also provides insight into understanding of global affairs. Masaryk University provides world class theoretical education as well as practical skills. Additionally, MUN Masaryk offers other skills that are important for every student graduating from here, and is promoting tranquility in society."

We are proud to announce that the Faculty of Pharmacy is honored to host professor Yashwanta Pathak from the American University of South Florida. Thanks to the Fulbright scholarship program, the renowned scientist will stay at our faculty for the next three months. He will host lectures for students and academic staff in the field of Nano Drug Delivery within the faculty as well as the whole Masaryk University.
