A total of 97 graduates received their Diploma, of which 79 passed the state final exams in the spring semester, the rest completed their studies in the autumn semester. The Vice-Rector for Lifelong Learning, Technology Transfer and Sustainability MU Monika Jandová, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy MU David Vetchý and Vice Dean for Quality and Degree Programme Development Tünde Ambrus presided over the ceremonies.
The graduation ceremonies were exceptional not only because of their atmosphere, but also because eleven graduates were awarded the red Diploma for outstanding academic achievements, graduating summa cum laude. Among them, for the very first time, was a graduate of the English Master's programme, which represents an important milestone in internationalization of the Faculty.
This year's graduating class was also unique because of the unprecedented circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly affected the beginning of their studies. The Vice-Rector recognized the graduates for their resilience and perseverance, remarking on the early stages of their studies when, for most of them, meeting their classmates and teachers for the first time did not happen in person but via their computer screens during online classes. Yet, they persevered and rose to the unparalleled occasion. And they are better for it today.
Last but certainly not least, this year's graduates were the first to begin their studies under Masaryk University, after the Faculty of Pharmacy transferred from the University of Veterinary Sciences, which it was part of for nearly three decades. For our faculty it meant returning 'home' after nearly 70 years as it was officially established under Masaryk University in 1952.
What a journey! We would like to offer our biggest congratulations to this year's exceptional graduation class, and wish them all the best in both their professional and personal lives. And as the Dean remarked in his closing speech: "Remember, the door to the Faculty of Pharmacy is always open to you".
