Describe your journey to Faculty of Pharmacy

I chose to be a pharmacist because I love chemistry and being in the lab. It might sound a little strange, but I’ve always been curious about how certain substances are made, for example plastic. This curiosity has been with me since childhood. After I finished high school, I had no idea I would study abroad. But then, due to complicated political situations in Myanmar, I had to find a way to study in another country. I decided on the Czech Republic especially because it is a peaceful country with quality education. I studied at ILPS CU in Poděbrady for a year, and then joined Masaryk University to fulfill my dream.

What do your like about your studies?

Definitely the practical classes! I was surprised that we have so many practical classes and seminars, which really help me understand the subjects and procedures. The professors are super nice—they are helpful, patient, and open-minded. I also appreciate the study officers for their willingness to help students and their support in solving problems. Last but not least, our campus is peaceful, which helps me concentrate during classes.

What difficulties have you encountered before or after moving to Brno?

I found communication quite difficult before moving to Brno, as I lived in a small town. However, here in Brno it is a student city, so I can manage even with English only. Time management is also very important, as I not only attend classes but also cook, do chores, and manage daily life.

What advice would you give to new students?

I recommend choosing our faculty with real dedication and being ready for many chemistry-related subjects. Don’t worry too much during your studies, because professors and senior students are very helpful. With enough willingness and effort, it is definitely possible to graduate from our faculty.
