Research activities

The Centre of the Institute of Molecular Pharmacy (IMP) is a specialized laboratory for work with tissue cultures, explants and microorganisms.

The research focus of this institute is on testing the biological activity of substances of natural and synthetic origin on tissue cultures.

Among biological activities, the institute focuses on cytotoxic (WST-1 and LDH kit), antioxidant (cellular antioxidant assay and activation of the cellular Nrf2/ARE system), anti-inflammatory (inhibition of NF-κB and affecting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines) and antidiabetic (affecting GLUT4 translocation, PPARγ agonism). In addition, research on antibacterial and antibiofilm activity, work in the field of molecular oncology (p53 family of tumour suppressor proteins) and also measurement of toxicity of drugs to plants in the environment is ongoing.
